Best Courses for Etsy Shop Owners on Creative Li | Etsy Shop Tips
If you are a lover of learning like I am, you will be THRILLED to learn that for the next few days, Creative Live is having a 50% sale. It includes ALL of their courses, especially my favorites – which also happen to be the best courses for Etsy shop owners. It’s the perfect time to purchase any courses that you’ve had your eyes on. This discount does not happen often at all!
Like literally, start the car.
Creative Live started out focused around Craft & Maker Businesses, but they also have amazing courses on Photography, Leadership & Business and Art & Graphic Design.
If you don’t have any courses on your radar (or are new to Creative Live) here are a few of my favourites that I have taken and LOVE. These are all based around having an Etsy shop or maker business, but I’ll be doing a round up of other craft related courses in the near future!
Before we go any further, I’m just doing my due diligence and letting you know this contains affiliate links. What does that mean? Should you choose to purchase items through these links we will make a small commission – at no expense to you. Thank you for helping us to continue providing free content on this blog!
HOW TO MAKE A LIVING SELLING WHAT YOU MAKE
Megan Aumen is a superstar teacher, and I’ve loved every single course I’ve purchased from her. She’s straightforward, provides excellent examples and has great reference sheets that you get when you purchase her courses. This course is 19 hours of goodness, where she basically coaches you how to make sure you are setting yourself up for success. Most importantly, that you are pricing your work so that your business is sustainable. Another of Megan’s courses that I highly recommend is Sell Your Products to Retailers, which covers the entire wholesale process, from creating a line sheet to common terminology you need to know. She even includes pitch examples, as well as follow up examples for shops that you’d like to be carried in.
TURN YOUR ETSY SHOP INTO A SALES MACHINE
This class is taught by Lisa Jacobs, who is the same educator that I mentioned in the article I did on taking Etsy full time. She has two resources available on Etsy, in addition to this course on Creative Live and her material is fantastic. If you are looking to create sustainable growth (and not just ride the fads and waves of Etsy), you will not regret taking her course. On a side note, she does have a few other courses on Creative Live, but I found there was some repetition between them. This one is by far the best one to get.
BLOGGING TO SELL YOUR PRODUCTS
This is another course that I love, and it has taught me so much about the importance of a blog when it comes to selling products. This course really broke down blogging effectively for me, and how to use this social media channel to my advantage and how not to waste my time trying to blog about everything under the sun. At the end of the day, she’s a maker, and understands how to do things so they benefit your online store.
PINTEREST MARKETING FOR MAKERS & DESIGNERS
As I often talk about in my local workshops and articles, Pinterest is the KEY to getting your handmade products found on the web. Essentially, Pinterest is a search engine and it’s up to us to get our products on it. But we can’t just pin our own items, we need a strategy that shares all sorts of relatable content. This is a great comprehensive course that covers the basics and gets you set up for success on your Pinterest account.
SECRETS OF SELLING AT CRAFT FAIRS
Not all makers sell only online (myself included). I do 4-6 craft and artisan fairs a year and my display has changed a ton over the last 4 years. This course is geared more for the beginning market vendor, but I also learned a lot when while working through this course – especially the part about being prepared. This course is 10 hours long, and covers a lot of material that you probably didn’t even think you needed to know!
OPTIMIZE YOUR ONLINE STORE
I’d already been following the teacher of this class, Andreea Ayers, for quite a while before I realized she had a class on Creative Live. This girl knows where it’s at. She’s created and then sold three different business’s, and while they are not handmade related, she shares strategies in this course that are creative, unique and useful for shops on various platforms. I really enjoy her outlook on business, and the way she views the science behind making the sale.
PS – if you’ve missed the 50% off special but still want to get your learn on, there are 2-3 classes live streaming per day completely for free. You aren’t able to pause them, or choose which sections to watch, but they are excellent for live streaming while you’re working throughout the day! I’ve purchased many classes that I initially started watching via live stream and then purchased because I love them and wanted to watch the whole thing over again.
If you take advantage of the sale and purchase a course – let m know! I love hearing what other people are learning and how it’s helped them!
xoxo,
Shannon
